100% Linen 'Cheeky Yam' print

Edition of 6

Culottes made from 100% linen. The textile print is called 'Cheeky Yam' and is an original design by Belinda Kuriniya from Babbarra Designs in Maningrida

The cheeky yam is an important bush food collected during the wet season.
Unlike other yams that can be eaten roasted, if not properly prepared, the cheeky yam can be poisonous. The preparation process of the yam traditionally takes two days.

Firstly, the yams are dug up and boiled over a fire then peeled and sliced into thin strips placed in a dillybag and strung up over a river so the bag just touches the running water the yams are left overnight to wash away the toxins.

The next morning, the yam pieces are collected and left in the sun to dry out .
Once the yam pieces have dried out in the sun for a day, they are ready to eat.

Featuring high waist, front pleats, YKK zipper fastening hidden in pocket bag, deep pockets, french and bound seams and hook and bar waist fastenings.

This style is cinched-in at the waist and open around the hips.
